BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — Brandon Penn, Anthony Myles and Justin Robinson scored 13 points apiece to lead Rider to a 79-64 victory over Canisius on Saturday night in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament quarterfinals.

Mike Ringgold added 12 points and Novar Gadson had 11 for the third-seeded Broncs (23-9), who have won six in a row and will face second-seeded Iona in the semifinals on Sunday.

After Rider built a 12-point second half lead, the sixth-seeded Golden Griffins (15-15) got within three, at 51-48, with 8:52 remaining.

Penn, Patrick Mansell and Robinson then hit consecutive 3-pointers to push the Broncs ahead 60-50.

Elton Frazier scored 17 to lead Canisius, which saw its two-game winning streak end.

Minutes before tip-off, Rider announced that sophomore Jonathon Thompson (6.1 points, 3.2 assists per game) was suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules.
