SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) — Springfield Police Chief Jerry Smith says there were no signs that an inmate who hanged himself in his cell was suicidal. The 29-year-old, Kit Milo Brittain of Springfield, was found hanging from a sheet Sunday and could not be revived. He had been alone after a cellmate was moved.

The Register Guard reports Brittain had been jailed Feb. 26 after he was seen urinating in a parking lot and ran from officers and resisted arrest.
