As the name March Muddy Madness implies, completing a 3-mile race at a Felida-area farm on Sunday required the 150 participants to get dirty.

A combination obstacle course and orienteering challenge, the race was organized by Northwest Personal Training of Vancouver. Among the obstacles were climbs over a wall and up a steep hill, and ropes to crawl beneath. Along the way, racers had to complete pushups, jumping jacks and other exercises.

Garth Ullakko, 41, of Castle Rock won with a time of 21 minutes and 43 seconds. The female winner was 14-year-old Sydney Miles of Vancouver in 25:39.

Elias Rangel, 18, of Vancouver was second overall (23:24), and Jonathon Thomas, 29, of Vancouver third (24:29). Kandy Welch of Troutdale, Ore., was second fastest (28:32), and Savannah Cooper, 18, from Camas was third (28:35).
