Jonsson wins men’s sprint World Cup

LAHTI, Finland (AP) — Emil Jonsson of Sweden won the World Cup men’s sprint title Sunday and Kikkan Randall of the U.S. lost her lead in the women’s sprint standings.

Jonsson won the men’s sprint at the Lahti Ski Games and secured the title with 530 points. His closest challenger, Norway’s Ola Vigen Hattestad, missed the semifinal and has 364 points in second place after finishing 13th.

Among the women, Norway’s Marit Bjorgen spearheaded a Norwegian double with Astrid Jacobsen.

Petra Majdic of Slovenia was third and overtook the sprint standings lead from Randall, who placed 21st after not advancing beyond the quarterfinals.

Majdic has 430 points Italy’s Ariana Follis, sixth Sunday, has 423 points and Randall has 401 with one race — in Stockholm — to come.
