GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AP) — Grady Sizemore took the biggest step on his road to recovery from knee surgery by running the bases Sunday at the Cleveland Indians’ training camp.

Manager Manny Acta is hopeful that the three-time AL All-Star will be in the Indians’ lineup in April. The outfielder has not done much in training camp other than take batting practice and spend considerable time in the trainer’s room.

Sizemore had microfracture surgery on his left knee June 4. He got hurt in an exhibition game April 1 and hit only .211 in 33 regular-season games before going on the disabled list May 19.

The Indians envision a healthy Sizemore giving their offense a considerable boost. In five seasons beginning in 2005, he averaged 25 homers, 26 steals, 37 doubles and 108 runs.
