DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — Coach Mike Krzyzewski says “there is a chance” injured point guard Kyrie Irving could return for Duke’s NCAA tournament opener.

Krzyzewski says Irving practiced “a little bit” with the Blue Devils (30-4) on Tuesday but that he won’t know for a few days whether the freshman guard will be available for No. 1 seed Duke’s West Regional opener against 16th-seeded Hampton on Friday in Charlotte.

Krzyzewski says if Irving does play, he won’t start, only would play limited minutes and wouldn’t be on the court for extended periods of time.

The playmaking point guard has been out since Dec. 4 when he injured the big toe on his right foot. He performed some on-court drills before Duke’s ACC tournament games last week in Greensboro.
