The March 22 Columbian story asks “Where are the women in Clark County politics?” If women truly believe they should be given jobs based on percentage of women in the county, let’s solve this gender under-representation once and for all, as follows:
Fifty percent of sewer-cleaning jobs go to women; of military front-line infantry go to women; of heavy construction jobs go to women; of police officer jobs go to women; of dangerous chemical-handling jobs to women; of farm work to women; of emergency room jobs to women; of grave-digger jobs to women; and of slaughterhouse jobs to women.
Let’s see … why are so many nursing, real estate agent, insurance company jobs; modeling jobs; K-12, college, and university jobs; city, county, state, and federal government jobs going to women? Where are the men in this scenario?
Where are the men’s magazines, clothes, books? Not in the shopping malls, which cater almost entirely to women. Many car dealers report two of three new cars are being sold to women. Many travel packages are being sold to women.
