Letter: This is our home; keep it clean

Recently, I took a walk around Cougar, a spot known to many as a getaway and a place to relax and refresh. What did I see? I saw beautiful cedars and hemlock, ferns, a herd of elk — and countless discarded bottles and cans, diapers, socks, a pillow, actual bags of garbage, a broken plastic sign, chip bags, and buckets, to name a few categories of trash. What are people thinking?

Let’s ask our representatives and senators to sponsor a bill to raise the fine for littering sky high and maybe, just maybe, a few people will get caught and the state can use the money to support the schools or the needy. Come on! What a beautiful state and what a lot of trash. Just look along the roadsides as you drive. It’s disgusting.
