UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. (AP) — Residents of University Place are mourning the death of an assistant principal killed in a motorcycle crash.

Bryan Beale was assistant principal at Drum Intermediate School. The News Tribune reports that the 37-year-old was killed Saturday when a sport-utility vehicle ran a red light and collided with his motorcycle in Tacoma.

University Place School District Superintendent Patti Banks says Beale was a talented and dedicated administrator who touched the lives of hundreds of students and families.

Beale also played in the Tacoma Concert Band and served on its board of directors.

Police spokesman Mark Fulghum says investigators are reviewing the crash.

Additional counselors will be at Drum Intermediate School on Monday for students who may need help coping with the loss.
