SAN DIEGO (AP) — San Diego Padres second baseman Orlando Hudson had to leave in the first inning against Pittsburgh after sustaining a right hamstring strain while running to second base.
Hudson hit a ball off the base of the center field fence Tuesday night against Pirates starter Jeff Karstens. As Hudson was about ready to touch second base on his way to a possible triple, he abruptly pulled up and grabbed the back of his right leg.
Hudson eventually walked off the field under his own power. He was replaced at second by Eric Patterson.
