CHICAGO (AP) — Minnesota Twins designated hitter Jim Thome was scratched from Tuesday night’s lineup against the Chicago White Sox because of a sore oblique muscle.

Rene Tosoni replaced Thome in the lineup in left field. And Jason Kubel, originally slated to be the left fielder, moved into the DH spot.

Thome is batting .214 with two homers and seven RBIs this season. Thome played for the White Sox from 2006-09. The 40-year-old slugger has 591 career homers.
