TAUNTON, England (AP) — Cricket fans listening on British radio this week heard an unlikely addition to the traditional sounds of bat on ball, polite applause and shouts of “Howzat!” from players.

Breaking glass.

Commentator Edward Bevan was talking to BBC listeners during Tuesday’s match between English county sides Glamorgan and Somerset when a batsman smashed the ball over the bowler’s head and through the commentary box window.

Listeners heard Bevan ask, “Is it going to hit us?” closely followed by glass smashing and muffled laughter.

Bevan’s colleague covered in the absence of his bruised colleague, who says, “It hit me on the back and I was quite shaken for a while.”

It is the third time Bevan has been hit while commentating.
