GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) — A Jackson County woman has been fatally wounded after police say she pointed her gun at officers during a two-hour standoff.

The Grants Pass Daily Courier reports Micki R. Broeske called police from her sister’s house and said she was planning to commit suicide with a gun early Tuesday morning.

Deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office found Broeske on the house’s porch and told family members to leave the house.

At 6:19 a.m., deputies say Broeske aimed her weapon at them and one deputy fired a round, killing Broeske.
