PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — An explosion Wednesday at a lumber plant near Portland left one man dead and two others injured.
The man who was killed was not identified Wednesday.
The Gaston, Ore., fire district reports the man was killed in an early-afternoon explosion at the Stimson Lumber Company when a hydraulic accumulator filled with nitrogen exploded in the mill’s maintenance shop.
Authorities briefly evacuated the maintenance shop.
A second man was taken from the scene by ground ambulance.
The identities of the injured men were unknown.
