Some Clark County viewers might recognize one of the 25 men vying for Ashley Hebert’s heart on the new season of “The Bachelorette.” Vancouver resident Jon Ellsworth, 26, is a contestant on the seventh season of the ABC reality dating TV show, which premiers at 9 p.m. May 23 on ABC.

An ABC publicist said Ellsworth was not available for interviews until he either wins or is eliminated from the show. Still, some information about Ellsworth can be found on the ABC website.

Ellsworth describes himself as an “e-commerce executive.” He says his three worst traits are that he’s “blunt, loud (and) opinionative.”

Ellsworth cites his Marine Corps service as his greatest achievement. His favorite actor, and also the person he’d most like to be for a day, is Arnold Schwarzenegger. And he has two tattoos, according to the website.

Washougal student wins study-abroad scholarship

It’s a good thing Washougal High School sophomore Eidelynn Stagg loves German food. Stagg, 16, will spend her junior year in Germany after being awarded a full scholarship from the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange program.

Stagg, a Washougal resident, leaves in July and will be abroad for a year, going to school and living with a host family in a yet-to-be-determined German city. Stagg is one of 250 students from throughout the nation selected for the program, which is funded by the United States and Germany.

Stagg has taken German for two years at Washougal High, and said she looks forward to advancing her foreign-language skills through immersive study. She also is eager to explore another culture.

“I’m just so excited to go to a country with such rich history and culture,” Stagg said. “I love history, I love architecture, I love meeting people, and I love German food, so I’m looking forward to everything.”

Her favorite German meal is rheinischer sauerbraten, a marinated meat dish.

“It’s the most delicious thing I’ve ever had in my life,” she said.
