PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) — A man was shot and killed in the Eastern Oregon town of Irrigon just after he called police to say that two people were stealing gas from his property.
The East Oregonian reports that Wade Bonner was shot after calling Morrow County 911 dispatchers early Tuesday morning.
The activity log for the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office shows dispatchers received a call later Tuesday from the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office, requesting the local major crimes team respond “to a murder, gunshot wound to the head” in Irrigon.
The log entry said it looked as though Bonner “was chasing a suspect from his home and was killed.”
Police have not released any information about suspects.
