KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — The German military says its top commander in Afghanistan was wounded Saturday when a suicide bomber attacked a provincial governor’s compound in the north of the country.

The military tells online magazine Der Spiegel that two German troops were killed and Gen. Markus Kneip, the NATO force’s commander for northern Afghanistan, was wounded along with three of his soldiers.

The blast killed at least four Afghans, including a senior police commander, officials said.
