WSP chase ends in crash on Seattle street



SEATTLE (AP) -- The driver of a stolen car who ran off after it crashed in Seattle while fleeing police has turned himself in.

KING reports the 17-year-old is facing possible charges of auto theft, eluding police and vehicular assault. Another 17-year-old was injured in the crash and is expected to recover. A third 17-year-old who was riding in the car was arrested at the scene.

Washington State Patrol Trooper Julie Startup says the chase started about 2 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 5 when a trooper tried to stop a car that was driving erratically.

The driver sped off and exited into the Seattle neighborhood where it ran stops signs and crashed near a school, taking out signs and a fire hydrant.
