AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Texas redshirt freshman wide receiver Chris Jones is transferring after two seasons with the program.

The school said Tuesday it has given Jones an unconditional release from his scholarship. It’s not known where he will go.

Jones was a two-time all-state selection as wide receiver and kick returner at Daingerfield High School. He helped Daingerfield to consecutive Class 2A Division II titles and a 30-2 record in 2008-09.

In two seasons at Daingerfield, he had 64 catches for 1,475 yards and 17 touchdowns, along with 611 yards and nine touchdowns rushing. Texas redshirted him in 2010.
