Girls soccer: Union 1, Thomas Jefferson 0, PKs

The Titans won a penalty-kick tiebreaker to advance to Saturday’s Class 4A bi-district playoff round. Union will play defending state champion Kentwood at 2 p.m. at Art Crate Stadium.

After a scoreless draw that saw the Jefferson goal keeper make a couple of game-saving stops, Union won the seven-round shootout 6-5.

Scoring shootout penalty kicks for the Titans were Bobbi Eckler, Kayla Vera, Maddie Sjothun, Haley Wheelon, Jessica De La Melena, and Nicole Blake.
