NEW DELHI (AP) — Seven players at the Kabaddi World Cup in India have tested positive for banned steroids.
National Anti Doping Agency director-general Rahul Bhatnagar was quoted in Tuesday’s edition of The Indian Express as saying that the players, including one American, had been provisionally suspended and withdrawn from the championship.
Two of the players are from Australia and one each from Germany, Canada, Spain and Argentina.
NADA had already caught 20 players for doping during an Indian kabaddi camp before the World Cup.
Kabaddi, a popular team sport in south Asia, is a seven-person game that involves raiding the opponents side and tackling and wrestling.
