SEATTLE (AP) — A lion got out of its den at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, but it didn’t get far Tuesday afternoon before it was tranquilized in a service building.
The zoo says the 12-year-old female named Kalisa gained access to a hallway. The zoo’s emergency response team of firearms units and veterinary staff immediately deployed with tranquilizer darts.
The lion was secured in about an hour. Two other lions remained in their dens during the incident.
The zoo is investigating how Kalisa made her break.
