Ore. child crossing highway struck by truck, dies

KNAPPA, Ore. (AP) — The Oregon State Police say a 9-year-old boy has been killed trying to cross Highway 30 in Clatsop County near Astoria.

The police said that witnesses reported the youth and an older sister ran between two pickup trucks Monday afternoon, and the sister made it to the other side of the road.

The police said a pickup truck hit Austin Hennessee of Knappa.

No citations have been issued.
