The name of the man who stabbed himself to death in front of deputies in Battle Ground on Wednesday won’t be released until Friday morning, officials said.

The Clark County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy Friday morning and should release the man’s name later in the day, Sgt. Scott Schanaker said Thursday.

Deputies from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a restraining order violation in progress at 9406 N.E. 219th St., near Battle Ground, on Wednesday around 10:30 a.m.

The man started stabbing himself in front of deputies, said Cmdr. Mike Cooke.

Deputies tried to intervene, but the man’s injuries were fatal. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Cooke said.

Detectives from the major crimes unit and Battle Ground Police Department responded to take over the investigation.

County property records indicate the home is owned by Ruth Berry.
