Campbell shoots past Houston Baptist 82-68

BUIES CREEK, N.C. (AP) — Trey Freeman and Eric Griffin combined for 43 points to lead Campbell to an 82-68 win over Houston Baptist on Friday night.

In his collegiate debut, Freeman made 7 of 12 from the floor and all eight of his free throw attempts to score 22 points – 14 in the second half. Freeman added three assists and four steals in 32 minutes.

Griffin made 8 of 9 shots, including 2 of 2 from 3-point range, and finished with 21 points and nine rebounds for the Camels, who shot 60.9 percent (28 of 46) from the floor and knocked down 77.4 percent (24 of 31) from the foul line.

Darren White added 11 points, while Marvelle Harris and Rico Ferguson chipped in eight apiece for the Camels, who won their season opener for the fifth time in six years.

Joe Latas and Dustin Hobaugh each scored 17 for Houston Baptist.
