FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) -- Sean Patterson threw two touchdowns to Connor Dixon and Duquesne defeated Sacred Heart 29-15 Saturday.

The Dukes (8-2, 6-1 Northeast Conference) led 7-6 when Patterson hit Dixon on a 33-yard touchdown, capping a 14-play, 95-yard drive. The two paired up again on a 35-yard score for a 21-6 Duquesne lead with 56 seconds left in the first half.

Duquesne got on the scoreboard first on Larry McCoy's 3-yard touchdown, but the Pioneers (5-3, 3-2) pulled within one when Justin Embler recovered a fumble in the end zone. They missed the extra point, however.

McCoy had two touchdowns and 149 rushing yards for the Dukes, who remain tied in first place in the NEC with Albany (N.Y.).

Duquesne's defense, which ranks second nationally in pass defense (134.1 yards per game) held the NEC's top passer Tim Little to 182 yards on 22-for-44 passing. Little averaged 224.2 yards per game coming in.
