PORT ORCHARD, Wash. (AP) — The Kitsap County sheriff’s office says four men have been arrested in the theft of 12 metal grave markers discovered missing on Veterans Day.

Sheriff’s spokesman Scott Wilson says detectives believe two men pried off the grave markers and two others tried to sell them as scrap metal.

The markers were reported stolen when the widow of a veteran discovered the damage Friday at the Breidablik Evergreen Community Cemetery.

The Kitsap Sun reports (http://bit.ly/rHa7mN ) eight of the 12 markers have been recovered. Some show signs of grinding and cannot be repaired.
