Dodgers say Fox trying to interfere with sale

DOVER, Del. (AP) — The Los Angeles Dodgers are complaining that Fox Sports is illegally trying to interfere with efforts to sell the team and it assets, including media rights to future games.

Dodgers attorneys filed a complaint Wednesday in Delaware bankruptcy court saying Fox attorneys violated the automatic halt to litigation against a debtor in bankruptcy by sending a letter to the Dodgers’ financial adviser.

The Nov. 9 letter demands that the financial adviser cease efforts to solicit bids for television rights to Dodgers games.

Fox has the current contract to televise Dodgers games and contends that the Dodgers’ plan to sell rights to future games would violate the existing contract. That contract includes a provision preventing the Dodgers from seeking a media rights deal with anyone other than Fox before November 2012.
