RENTON, Wash. (AP) — The Seattle Seahawks offensive line has taken another hit after rookie right tackle James Carpenter was lost for the season because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

The team confirmed the injury on Thursday morning. Carpenter was taken off the field during practice on Wednesday after suffering the injury and had an MRI on Wednesday night.

The Seahawks’ first-round pick out of Alabama, Carpenter had started all nine games at right tackle and had improved through the season. His is the second major injury on the Seahawks offensive line this week. Rookie right guard John Moffitt was lost for the season to torn ligaments in his right knee during last Sunday’s win over Baltimore.

Paul McQuistan will start for Moffitt, while Breno Giacomini is the likely replacement for Carpenter.
