SEATTLE (AP) — King County prosecutor Dan Satterberg has announced he will not seek the death penalty against the Seattle doctor accused of fatally stabbing his partner and their 2-year-old son.
Satterberg says he will seek a life sentence without the possibility of release when the case against 39-year-old Louis Chen continues in court.
Authorities say Chen stabbed his partner 29-year-old partner Eric Cooper and their son at their First Hill penthouse in August. They say Chen used as many as 5 knives to stab and slash his victims more than 100 times.
Chen was charged with two counts of first-degree murder. He’s next due in court on Dec. 8.
