ASHLAND, Ore. (AP) — The weekend slaying of a young Ashland man on a popular bike path has residents shaken.

Susan Berry told the The Ashland Daily Tidings (http://bit.ly/rSeLGz ) that she regularly rides bikes with her young daughter on the Central Ashland Bike Path, and people need to be on their guard.

Michael Grubbs was found dead Saturday afternoon where the path passes a park and an elementary school.

Police say the 23-year-old was stabbed in the head and neck. At this point, investigators don’t think he knew his attacker.

He grew up in Ashland and was the son of a city building official. He worked at a local grocery store.

The last time anyone was murdered in Ashland was in 2004.
