GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Florida offensive coordinator Charlie Weis says hip pain that has him using a cane won’t drive him from coaching.

Weis says he plans to “coach for a long time,” adding that his wife won’t let him quit.

There had been reports that Weis might call it quits because of his health. Weis has used a cane at times this season, and it became more apparent when he used it on the sideline the last two games. He also worked one game from the upstairs coaching box.

He says it’s not important how he feels, that he can do his job fine and that he has “as much gas in the tank as I had at the start of the year. There’s no less gas. It’s still running on full.”
