Letter: Leash laws protect public safety

The photograph published Nov. 4 titled “Torpedo Run” on Page 1 of the Clark County section showed a couple enjoying a lovely fall day at Felida Park with their dog … but a law was being broken. I walk my dog daily through the parks and encounter these loose dogs constantly. Some owners seem to think that they aren’t hurting anyone. Well, you are. I walk in fear that a dog will decide to come after me and my dog is very agitated because she is intimidated being leashed with a loose “potential” predator nearby.

With the exception of five parks designated leash-free, all Clark County parks have leash laws with fines attached. So exercise your dogs at the off-leash parks or put on your pet on a leash while in the parks or on the streets. Obey the law.
