Texas-Arlington overwhelms North Texas 97-64

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Jordan Reves scored 13 points to lead five players in double figures, and Texas-Arlington rode a 32-0 first-half run to a 97-64 victory Tuesday over North Texas.

Kevin Butler and LaMarcus Reed added 12 points apiece for the Mavericks (3-0), while Bradley Gay and Cameron Catlett each scored 10. Brandon Edwards came off the bench to grab a career-high 13 rebounds.

The Mean Green (1-2) led 3-0 before Texas-Arlington scored 43 of the next 46 points, ultimately taking a 55-18 lead into halftime. The Mavericks held North Texas to 5-of-25 shooting and forced 19 turnovers in the first half.

Chris Jones led North Texas with 20 points, and Jordan Williams added 17. The Mean Green found their touch in the second half, shooting 57 percent (16 of 28) from the field. It was too late to catch Texas-Arlington, which shot 58 percent (37 of 64) for the game.
