Austria dominates ski jumping World Cup in Finland

KUUSAMO, Finland (AP) — Austria dominated the first ski jump World Cup meet of the season Sunday by winning the team competition and taking the top three spots in the individual event.

Andreas Kofler took the individual event with a total score of 264 points. Gregor Schlierenzauer (263.5 points) was second and Thomas Morgenstern (256.3) finished third.

The trio also helped Austria top Japan and Russia to claim victory in the team competition. In that event, Schlierenzauer and Morgenstern recorded long jumps of 152.07 yards and 150.97 yards, respectively, helping Austria reach 517.2 points.

Japan was second with 408.4 points, ahead of Russia in third place with 398.3 points.
