GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — The Dallas Stars lost goalie Kari Lehtonen to a right knee injury early in their game against the Phoenix Coyotes on Saturday night.

Lehtonen went down about 5:30 into the opening period when Phoenix defenseman Derek Morris’s slap shot caught him on the right knee just above the goalie pad. The play was called for an offside, but Morris’ shot came just before the whistle sounded.

Lehtonen was helped off the ice, went to the locker room and did not return.

Coming into the game, Lehtonen had a 1.98 goal against average in seven road games. In 18 overall games, Lehtonen has a 13-4-1 record with a 2.35 GAA.
