MORA, N.M. (AP) — Oklahoma State University assistant basketball coach Miranda Serna, who died in a plane crash this month, has been buried in New Mexico.

Miranda Serna was remembered as a “hero” by family members and former teammates during a funeral Saturday.

Serna and Kurt Budke, the head coach for OSU women’s basketball team, died when a single-engine plane transporting them on a recruiting trip crashed in Arkansas.

The pilot, 82-year-old former Oklahoma state Sen. Olin Branstetter, and his 79-year-old wife, Paula, also died when the plane sputtered, spiraled out of control and nosedived into the Winona Wildlife Management Area, about 45 miles west of Little Rock.

Serna played at Eldorado High School in Albuquerque and led the Eagles to two state titles.
