ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Syracuse University Chancellor Nancy Cantor is supporting men’s basketball coach Jim Boeheim amid an investigation into child molestation accusations against his former longtime assistant coach.
Cantor emerged from an economic development conference with state officials and said: “He is our coach.”
Some commentators and sex abuse victims’ advocates have said Boeheim should resign in the wake of allegations that Bernie Fine had molested three boys, including two Syracuse ballboys.
When the allegations first became public Nov. 17, Boeheim adamantly defended Fine and attacked the accusers, saying they were lying to make money in the wake of the Penn State University sexual abuse scandal.
