Letter: Stop midnight shopping rush

The Columbian
Published: November 29, 2011, 4:00pm

I understand retailers’ opening at midnight to get an advantage over other stores, but in doing so, the stores show no regard to employees. These people got little sleep since they spent time with family on Thanksgiving Day, I’m sure they weren’t thankful for opening the store at midnight since they had to show up even earlier. Retailers need to respect their workers and give them an entire day off. Shoppers will buy the same items if they opened at 6 a.m. Let us think of others and give them a break and stop shopping at midnight.
