SUNNYVALE, Calif. (AP) — The man suspected of opening fire at a Northern California limestone quarry, killing three co-workers and injuring six has been shot by authorities in a Silicon Valley neighborhood.
Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Sgt. Jose Cardoza confirms 47-year-old Shareef Allman was shot Thursday morning but wouldn’t say if he was killed.
However, Cardoza says a man matching Allman’s description died after being shot by law enforcement in Sunnyvale, about five miles from the quarry. And live television footage showed police cars gathered in the neighborhood and authorities pulling a tarp over what appeared to be a body in front of a home.
According to authorities, Allman became upset Wednesday during a safety meeting at Permanente Quarry. He left and returned with a handgun and rifle and started shooting people.
