Columbia River fishing advisers sought

Nominations are due by Nov. 15 for candidates to serve on the bi-state Columbia River Recreational Fishing and Columbia River Commercial Fishing advisory groups.

Each group meets three to four times a year to discuss salmon, steelhead and sturgeon fishing issues. The advisers assist the Washington and Oregon departments of Fish and Wildlife develop fishing seasons, minimize conflicts between sport and commercial grops and implement annual marketing plans.

Committee members will be selected by the two state fish and wildlife directors. They will serve from January 2012 through the end of 2014.

Any group or individual may submit a nomination.

Nominations should include the following: A resume with contact information and a statement describing the nominee’s fishing experience, interest in serving on the committee and ability to communicate with constituents.

All nominations may be mailed to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, 2108 Grand Blvd., Vancouver, 98661, by email to teamvancouver@dfw.wa.gov or by fax to 360-906-6776.
