BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) — Indiana University says the men’s basketball program has committed a secondary recruiting infraction with a prospect from the Class of 2012.
According to university documents, the infraction occurred Oct. 6 with an unnamed player. The school report says assistant coach Tim Buckley told head coach Tom Crean on Oct. 5 that he could contact the recruit the next day. But with an evaluation period opening Oct. 6, Crean’s contact was not allowed. When Buckley realized the error, after the contact had occurred, the school says both coaches notified the compliance office.
Indiana plans to count the contact as one of its two permissible contacts, will disallow a second contact with the recruit and will give up two recruiting days.
