PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The Portland-area mass transit agency TriMet says it has disciplined a driver who berated a woman and her crying 2-year-old into getting off a bus.

The driver had been put on leave while the Sept. 29 incident was investigated.

Spokeswoman Mary Fetsch calls the incident a “rare occurrence that does not represent the customer service we expect.” She said Friday the driver received “appropriate discipline” but refused to say what it was or identify the woman, a driver since 2001.

The mother who was ejected, Magdalena Rabadan, called her husband for a ride home. She says she could not stop her daughter from crying. Several other passengers followed her off the bus in support.
