TORONTO (AP) — Welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre has pulled out of next week’s UFC 137 title fight with Carlos Condit because of knee injury.

UFC President Dana White announced the withdrawal on Twitter.

The Montreal-based champion had been set to meet Condit on Oct. 29 in Las Vegas. The new main event at the Mandalay Bay Events Center will be B.J. Penn against Nick Diaz.

St. Pierre was to have met Diaz in the main event, but White dumped Diaz after he failed to show for publicity events in Toronto and Las Vegas. Condit, who was doing interviews for the GSP fight Tuesday, apparently will get another shot at the champion.
