Letter: Herrera Beutler stands firm

The Columbian
Published: October 17, 2011, 5:00pm

I want to thank Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, for protecting programs that are critical to senior citizens. Credible economic experts predict Medicare will go bankrupt in nine years if nothing is done. Rather than responding to harsh partisan rhetoric and threats to back down, Herrera Beutler has stood firm and done the right thing. Her actions are those of a tough leader. Her ability to stand against those who have little genuine concern for seniors, and to consistently do the right thing, makes me proud and grateful to have Herrera Beutler as my congresswoman.
