Letter: Expecting entitlements drains nation

The Columbian
Published: October 18, 2011, 5:00pm

The assault on this nation’s political consciousness by entitlement groups within our population is getting disgusting.

It’s apparent by the disruptive and destructive nature of this so-called movement, in stark contrast to the peaceful and orderly presentations of the Tea Party supporters, that the final result of aligning oneself with such idiotic reasoning would lead to total chaos.

The most outrageous deception put forth is the illusion that taking from the rich and giving to the poor and calling it “redistribution of wealth” is going to solve any economic problems in our country. It’s as pathetic as it is untrue.

In reality, what is happening is that money and resources are being taken from the people who actually work (spanning all social levels) and being given to the people who don’t work. This fact, alone, is destroying the very fabric of our work ethic and inspiration toward the American dream that has been the source of our nation’s growth and strength.

Why should a person want to go to work every day when he/she can make just as much in the milking of social programs being provided by a nanny state? We are killing the goose that lays gold eggs.
