The Washington state Department of Labor and Industries will hold the first of six public hearings on its proposed workers’ compensation rate hike of 2.5 percent at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Red Lion Hotel Vancouver at the Quay.

The proposed hike is an average for all state employers, according to the state agency. Individual employers will see their rates go up or down depending on recent claims history, and any changes in the frequency and cost of claims in their industry.

Subsequent hearings will be held in Renton, Bellingham, Richland, Spokane and Tumwater. For more information, visit http://www.lni.wa.gov/News/2011/110920proposedrates.asp or call 360-902-4817.
