CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Bears waived 14 players, though running back Chester Taylor was not among the cuts announced Friday.
The veteran is widely expected to be released or traded before the deadline Saturday to trim the roster to 53.
The Bears waived guard Johan Asiata, fullback Eddie Williams, wide receivers Andy Fantuz and Onrea Jones and linebacker Chris Johnson. Also cut were linebackers Tressor Baptiste and Deron Minor, cornerbacks Antareis Bryan and Ryan Jones, tackle Josh Davis, punter Spencer Lanning, defensive end Jake Laptad, center Alex Linnenkohl and receiver Jimmy Young.
Chicago needs to cut 13 more players.
