ATLANTA (AP) — The Braves have released shortstop Julio Lugo and named rookie right-hander Randall Delgado as Sunday’s fill-in starter for Jair Jurrjens against the Dodgers.

Lugo signed a minor league contract with Atlanta on May 23 and was called up to Atlanta on June 21. He hit only .136 in 22 games with the Braves.

Infielder Jack Wilson, acquired from Seattle on Wednesday, was activated from the 15-day disabled list on Friday. Wilson moves into Lugo’s utility infielder role.

Manager Fredi Gonzalez says Delgado, 0-1 with a 3.60 ERA in two starts with Atlanta, will be recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett. Jurrjens will be examined by orthopedic specialist Dr. Richard Steadman in Vail, Colo., as early as Saturday. An MRI showed a bone bruise on Jurrjens’ right knee.
