Brazil economy grew 0.8 percent in 2nd quarter

RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) -- Brazil's government statistics institute says the country's economy grew 0.8 percent in the second quarter of 2011.
The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics says in a statement that growth was slower compared to a first-quarter expansion of 1.2 percent.
Since the beginning of this year, Brazil's government has adopted a series of measures meant to cool down the economy and contain inflation.
